Black Lava

Im looking for the name of a black stone that is made from fire/lava and ice?
I think it started with an o or an m but i cant remeber and its bothering me, please help me out
Obsidian? That is usually black – it’s volcanic glass – and it’s glass because it’s come out of a volcano and hardened so quickly that it didn’t have time to crystalize – so it remains a “liquid” forever.
Yes…. glass is a “liquid” – because it’s not crystalized. And glass flows over the centuries too like a liquid.
All cultures broke up Obsidian to make tools – arrow heads and scrapers – which were sharper than we can make modern cutting tools. Nothing is as sharp as broken glass.
