Clearly Wrong Consumer Causes Jet Blue Flight Attendant Row
Steven Slater, career flight attendant, was pushed over the brink. A great flight attendant for over two decades, a traveler thought it was acceptable to abuse him for doing his job. The Jet Blue flight attendant stormed off, went on a tirade of his own over the intercom and then employed the emergency chute and took off on foot down the tarmac. He was later imprisoned for reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, among other charges.
It is plane to see how much he can handle
Jet Blue Flight 1052 was arriving at JFK International Airport from Pittsburgh as outlined by CNN. The plane was nearing the terminal after landing, and a passenger stood up to get his bag in the overhead bin before it was safe to do so, and Steven Slater, a flight attendant, instructed him he had to take his seat until the plane came to a stop. What happened next isn’t really clear, but seems like either the bag fell and struck Slater or the passenger shoved him. Instead of apologizing, the traveler swore at Slater. Slater announced he was quitting over the intercom while losing a tirade at the passenger who maltreated him. He took beer from the galley and used the emergency chute to exit the plane. He was arrested at his home later.
Pressure in the cabin
When Slater was not working, according to MSN, he was rarely home. His roommate disclosed that he often flew to Thousand Oaks in California to care for his ailing mother, as he did for his father before he passed away. According to the New York Times, his mother had also been a flight attendant. His father, a previous pilot, passed away from Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Customers really can be wrong
The service trades aren’t as easy as one might think, and they should not be maltreated at all. The general public could be absolutely horrid, as everyone who has ever worked a day in their life within the service industry knows. Mistakes do sometimes get made, but cooperating and being polite cost nothing.
