is there much differnce between a branded skateboard made of canadian mapal and a unbranded deck made by the s?
earlier today i decided to buy a plain un branded deck for just 25 with camo grip tape
if i bought a more expensive 50 pound deck with graphics is there much differnce for a beginner?
i also bought some plan b ryan gallant wheels that were 17 pound (half price) i already have trucks if there not good i dont know

I don’t know . . . People will tell you there’s no difference between a “blank” deck and one made by a regular company but I’m not 100% convinced of that. But I may be a bit of a snob too. I’ve just always had the means to afford a decent (by which I mean “branded”) deck. But there are tons of kids out there these days who ride blanks exclusively and swear by them.
And, if you’re the kind of person who skates hard and breaks a lot of decks, a cheaper deck might be just what the doctor ordererd. (Although it could be a “chicken and egg” question in that; Do you break decks a lot becuase you ride blanks, or do you ride blanks because you break decks a lot?)
There’s also “the industry” to consider. Maybe. If you talk to your local skate shop owner, they’ll probably tell you something along the lines of “blanks are killing ‘the industry,’” meaning that the big name skateboard companies are being out-competed by “blank” companies, because expenses like paint and pro skaters’ salaries and video budgets all get rolled into the price of your deck. So, if no one buys Big Name decks, all those things go bye-bye and skateboarding goes back to the early 90′s.
Maybe.
So, there’s all that to consider. But yeah. For the most part the blank deck is the same as a regular deck and your wheels are probably the same as the more expensive wheels, they just have “last season’s” graphic on them. I don’t think Plan B has changed their urethane recipe recently so it’s all the same stuff.
