traffic lights, crossing over line but halting at amber?
i was taking my wife to hospital as she was ill, my kid was in the back seat, the rush hours had just started, at traffic lights long que of traffic, on my side the lights turned green and when i was less than half a meter from the line they went amber, i stopped but given it was a 30mph zone i was bound to cross over the line, lucky the car at back didn’t punch into me, since the line was crossed as i came to halt i stayed there till lights phased through to red and amber-green without obstructuing any traffic, does it constitute an offence and should i expext a penalty, if so do i have a legal case in my favour. I regret not continuing but the problem was that there was a police van nearby on the other side.
If you had continued you may have been pulled for running a red light. If there was a copper watching and they didn’t nab you it isn’t a problem is it. At worst all a copper could do is give you a warning.
