What is coast guard basic training like?
I would really like to join the coast guard, but i don’t know what to expect in basic training . How different is it from all the other boot camps in the military?

There are many factors that make it similar, military indoc, physical training, weapons training. There are some things that make it unique. This includes the fact that we have Federal Law Enforcement as one of our missions and SAR as one of our missions. This “uniqieness” of the Coast Guard also modifies some of the basic instruction you will receive. There is also alot of naval type training since we are a sea service.
Before you go, make sure you’re in shape. It makes your time there easier. Make sure you’re a good swimmer.
I couldnt disagree more with James S. He is yet another undereducated person who comments on our basic training and hasnt gone through it. It is more probable that James S tried for an enlistement in the CG but didnt make it. We are a very selective service meaning we have fewer slots to compete for. This is why it is easier to join the USMC or Navy. We have a low washout rate simply because we recruit from a richer crop.
