How can I determine the value of a collectible item?
In the mid to late 1960′s my parents bought 13 figurines (one for each original colony) from The Franklin Mint. They are pewter sculptures of figures throughout American History. The first was of a “Daniel Boone type character” complete with a long rifle and the last was of a “Neil Armstrong on the moon character”. The detail was extraordinary. Before my father died he sent them to me. They were slightly damaged by heat during shipping. (Pewter is very soft metal, especially when warm). I want to determine if they are worth the expense of repair. I don’t have the original shipping boxes, which is how they got damaged. But I do have the description cards that came with them.
There is an annual and monthly publication Price Guide for most collectibles, including the “Franklin Mint”, Just go to your nearest Hobbie store that you know deals with collectibles and ask them if you can get a script, if thry are not carrying for sale. You can also browse through their store copy!
