$5 Australian bill – worth more?
i have a $5 aussie bill. serial bumber starts with AA 03 – - – - – - still crisp and looks new with some folds. i know this is a federation note printed in 2001. the interesting part is that the colours are washed away. its almost pink/salmon and not the usual purple/indigo. im wondering if this is a collectors item and worth more than $5.
thanks for the interesting responses. i had a look at the rba website. just to add, the $5 note i have is exactly the same as the ones in circulation with QE2 in the front. just that my bill starts with AA03 and has washed off colours almost in salmon. i just find it strange that it’s still crisp. if it was washed off by water it sure would show some signs of it. looks like mine was just mistakenly printed in the wrong colour. guess i’m still hoping it’s still worth a car or a house. hahaha
yes this note is worth more than $5 depending on the condition. You should take it to a dealer and see what they say.
