Do we need a Constitutional amendment to demand that Congress balances the budget?
This is not a slam on Democrats, but ALL politicians. Should they be able to operate, trillions in the “red,” with so much at stake?
If they’re going to increase spending, should they have to show how they’ll pay for it?
And if they’re going to cut taxes, must they also cut a corresponding amount of spending?

You are so confused. The budget was balanced with a Republican Congress. We saw what happened the last 2 years when Dems controlled office.

Gov should be made to comply w/ spending what the taxpayers contribute. If gov began the line by line restructuring of the budget today, eventually that fat would be trimmed and the deficit would reverse. The process of paying off the debt would boost consumer confidence and put a charge into the economy that could have a snowballing effect. Gov has been demonstrating a lack of responsibility by how easy it is to spend all the money, and even money we don’t have. We’re paying more in interest than most countries GNP.
Make the balanced budget mandatory and let the voters decide via bill referendums if we want to exceed the cost.
