I don’t understand whether you’re saying you already have the Benchmade Mini – Griptillian / CRKT M-16, or that you are comparing them.

I’ve owned both the Mini – Griptillian and the CRKT M-1610KZ. Do not buy the CRKT unless you are only going to be cutting paper and boxes. They are fragile and will break under mild abuse. I’ve done destruction tests on the CRKT also, a couple of drops on the concrete and that AutoLawks will go faulty on you. The AUS steel is also very easy to wear and chip.

The Benchmade Mini-Griptillian, on the other hand, is a superb knife for the money. The plastic handles feel really cheap, but they are actually very strong. For a destruction test, I’d give the knife a 7 out of 10. Benchmade is now offering a custom Griptillian program, lets you choose color and steel of the blade. Be warned though, there’s a month waiting time.

I have never had any experiences with Spyderco, but they are generally popular and I hear very good things about them. I guess I just don’t like the looks of Spyderco(s). The person above who mentioned the Winchester package, if all you’re doing is cutting boxes, paper, and possibly mail, they will serve its purpose. They generally will not put up with abuse / hard use.
