Will vinegar also remove the paint design on my knife?
my knife has a little rust on its edge. and i was thinking about using vinegar to remove it. but then wondered if the vinegar would remove the design along the blade as well. so will it? its a Ka-bar fighting knife, with a commemorative design about Operation: Iraqi Freedom. my dad got this for me when he came back from his first time in iraq. so this knife is very special to me and i dont want to alter its design.so if it does remove paint then please tell me and if you can, give me an another suggestion than wont but will still get rid of the rust. If I had a special item like this and wasn’t sure what to use to remove the rust, I would take it to a jeweller. They could best advise you what to use that shouldn’t damage paint, enamel or soft metals. If the design is painted on, then even light abrasion while cleaning it could remove the paint.
