what type of lizard is Black with yellow spots and the head looks like a dragon?
I live in west LA. I have lots of Bamboo trees in the yard and while cleaning the leaves between the Bamboo trees, a lizard looking animal, black colored with yellow spots and head looked like a dragon ran out of our garage door (Near the Bamboo trees)and into a bush hiding. I need to know if it is safe for for my kids to play in the yard with this kind of animal loose? are they dangerous? what should I do?
Sounds like a yellow-spotted salamander. They are harmless, and they will help you by eating pesky bugs around your home.
