Ems Paramedic
Do EMS workers in the FDNY train and act as firefighters themselves, or do they mainly administer aid?
I want to be a paramedic, and I want to be a firefighter. So I though to myself where else but New York? Am I right?
Ok, so do FDNY EMS serve as firefighters and enter burning buildings, put out fires, etc., or do they administer aid only?

My understanding of FDNY is that the EMS and Fire Department are two different agencies. If you want to be a paramedic you have to work for the EMS side. The Fire Department is trained in first aid and will respond to a major medical emergency. However, they are usually not to the level of paramedic. If you would like to be a Firefighter/Paramedic you will have to look at other agencies around the area.
