Finger Grip

Why Your Putting Grip Is A Valuable Asset In Your Golf Game
When it comes to improving your golf game quickly, there’s no better place to place your initial focus than it the putting grip that you are using. Finding a more effective grip can reduce your putts by 5-10 strokes per game. The reality is that very few golfers do the proper experimentation when it comes to finding the best putting grip for their individual style.
There are several fundamentals in golf that golfers need to be aware of, and the putting grip is one of them. You will also need to understand the concepts of alignment, stability, as well as ball position. Having the proper grip is ideal for providing a solid and stable putt for which most of the top world players are using in golf games today.
One of the grip tips for improving putting is using an easy technique known as the ten-finger grip. This method is used by holding the club as one would a baseball bat. The use of this method is perfect for beginners and for those who may have arthritis, experience joint pain, or have small weak hands. For proper positioning, individuals should start with their lead hand while also placing the little finger of the trailing hand close to the index finger.
Another option when choosing a putting grip is the called the reverse overlap. This is where the hands are moved in a motion of a unit instead of the ten-one finger grip where hands worked individually. This grip entails that your thumbs are facing downward and move in motion together to help eliminate the wrist break. Position bottom hand and top hand on putter. Slide hands together until the they touch with thumbs straight down. Once done, place your top index finger over the top of the bottom hands fingers.
Another variety of putting grip is the interlocking grip. In using this popular grip, it helps to keep the individuals hands together while swinging. This grip will provide less strength and is widely used by women, those with short fingers (as well as those with small hands). To facilitate, the club should be held with the left hand, three knuckles visible with the left thumb slightly to the of the center while gripping. With right hand, the use of the middle finger, index finger and ring finger should be placed towards the end of the handle with the pinkie finger interlocking with left index finger.
By experimenting with different grips, golfers may find one that better suits their game. Also, another thing to keep in mind is having enough force and tightness to control the club. If one is gripping too tightly, this can cause less flexibility while swinging the club and negatively affect your putting accuracy. Fingers should be held consistently and should not change while in the swinging motion.
It is highly recommended that you try out at least a dozen new putting grips before you settle down on one. However, once you have found a grip that is comfortable and allows you to perform the most accurate putts, I urge you to stick to it until it is mastered. Too many golfers make the mistake of switching grips prematurely when they don’t see consistent positive results.
