Green Plain
I’m in need of a simple or plain dark green kimono. Any suggestions for where to find one?

I have a somewhat modest budget.

Are you looking for an authentic Japanese kimono, or kimono-inspired Western clothes? If you’re looking for an authentic Japanaese kimono, try places like Ichiroya, Yamatoku, Kimono Lily, Ryu Japan, I-kimono, and Jshoppers.com. You could also try a shopping service like Rakuten. If you’re really desperate, try eBay, but only do that if you know what you’re talking about — there’s a lot of junk on eBay. From the sounds of it, you want what is called an iromuji, which is a kimono in a single solid color. Any pattern in the kimono is woven in and shows up because it’s a different weave or texture than the rest of the fabric. If you don’t find an iromuji you like, consider searching for tsukesage or houmongi. They have colorful patterns, but the pattern usually only falls along the bottom hem and something on part of a sleeve and shoulder, and they are quite elegant. You might also get lucky and find a furisode with a simple pattern. Iromuji are probably your best bet in terms of finding something less expensive, though.
