Dead Deer?
Why are all the dead deer by the side of the road females? Is it because females should stay off the roads? Would they rather comit suicide than give in to those horny stags? Or is it that any dead buck gets picked up by hunters who try and disguise the tire marks and pass it off as a prize kill?
Although my question is worded in a tounge and cheek manner, it was a genuine question we asked ourselves. We drove some 800 miles around Wisconsin and saw tens of dead deer by the side of the road and all of them were does.
This is for a couple of reasons.
Does 99% of the time move ahead of bucks.There are also more does than bucks in the woods.
If I saw a dead buck on the side of the road with the antlers still on,you bet I’d stop and get em.You can’t eat the deer 90% of the time after it’s been in a vehicle accident,and it’s not worth taking the hide because it’s usually pretty banged up,so why let the antlers go to waste?You can make a bunch of stuff from em’,from handles to buttons.
