How exactly pliable is Nintendo’s customer service in regards to repairs?
…Because I went to Florida and left my DS Lite in my backpack. I get stopped because I had this little dinky keychain pocket knife (understandable, given the times). Unfortunately, they manhandled my bag a little too roughly, so now my touch screen has an unfortunate blotch on the right side that changes shape and size depending on how I store my DS Lite. Exactly how nice is Nintendo’s customer service when it comes to trying to convince them that, even though the damage is one that the warranty does not cover, that the device is still under warranty and it was no fault of my own?
Really appreciate it.
That type of damage is not covered by Nintendo’s warranty. You can get it repaired by Nintendo but it will cost you, in which case I’d suggest making a claim with the airport for the cost of the repairs.

Screen appears cracked (runny colors, blotchy screen):
If runny colors or blotchy colors permanently remain on the screen, even when the Nintendo DS Lite is OFF, then the liquid crystal display (LCD) is cracked. In this situation, your system will need to be repaired.
Nintendo’s warranty does not cover physical damage (such as a cracked screen on a handheld unit). If your Nintendo DS Lite needs repair or replacement due to physical damage, please call our Consumer Service department at 1-800-255-3700 to discuss available repair options.
