What is it about Germany that they make such good quality knives?
Many of the best knives are manufactured in Solingen. Why do they all come from there?
The Henckels lower quality knives aren’t even made in Germany.
I do understand why they are better knives because of how they are made and the materials used. I was just wondering if it was anything particular about Germany, or just kind of a coincidence that those companies happen to be based there.
It is simply craftsmanship. High quality carbon steel and attention to detail. The Japanese also make very high quality knives such as Global. As with anything you get what you pay for. You can buy lesser quality German knives as well. Heinkel knives makes several different levels of quality and if you don’t know what you are doing you can get burned in one of those department store sales.
