Knife Rough
What is a good knife to use for self protection?
I am going to college next semester and the area where i am moving into is pretty rough. There was already two armed robberies in the past week so i was thinking i should buy a knife just to keep in my car or pocket if i am ever alone. I dont need some big rambo knife or anything like that, just something to keep me somewhat safe in the event of a robbery. Also something under 100 bucks would be preferable.
Also, if it could fold too that would be great because I dont want it to be too cumbersome to have to carry around and such.
A 9MM Caliber or a 45 Caliber Handgun. Seriously, who really uses a knife for protection – unless you are under-age or a criminal. If you are really worried about “protection” than get a concealed permit, and take some sort of handgun safety and self defense course (offered at many local gun clubs). If you are really going to resort to bodily harm (which a knife suggests you are), than go with a handgun for protection. Or if the thought of carrying a gun and possibly using a gun on another person just scares you than look into some pepper spray that can spray at a good long distance. Many time’s this is enough to bring an attacker down to the grown long enough for you to run away.
If you do go the Pepper Spray path, than I would suggested buying a couple of them, and go someplace away from people and not in the direction where the wind is blowing. Practice using the spray bottle. This will help learn how to use the Pepper Spray. It will also show you first hand how far away you can be to use this on an attacker, how long you can keep spraying before you run out and what it is like to aim while you are spraying the pepper spray.
Keep in mind if you don’t spray it in the face of the attacker it does little good, so when you begin spraying – keep spraying with out letting go of button that is spraying until you hit the attack in the face. Even if he goes down on the ground covering his face – keep spray for several full seconds in the face area even if the attacker’s hands are covering his face – you don’t want the attacker to come back up after you because you didn’t spray enough on his face to keep him down and blinded while you get away.
