Is this a nice knife set?
My mom has like NO decent knives at her house (she uses an extremely dull steak knife for all her cutting) and my father never spends a penny on her, EVER! I feel so bad for her cause what little money my dad gives her, she spends on clothes and food for everyone else in the family, meanwhile she buys NOTHING for herself. Anyways, I got her this knife set from Macy’s and its being shipped directly to her house (as a surprise), but I’m second guessing my choice.

Apparently its a German company, but I think this set is actually manufactured in China, while their super-expensive sets are actually made in Germany (Solingen). It got decent reviews though…what do you think? My mom is no master chef, but she cooks almost everyday…

This set looks pretty decent – notice how the steel continues all the way thru and captured by the two piece handle riveted together- this is a typical sign of a decent knife. Some cheep knives sometimes have over-molded plastic handle that will break off eventually…
It looks like the set has all she will need – vegetable peeler, butcher knife, bread knife, sharpener tool, and 6 steak knives… I think it’s pretty good for 100 bucks!
