Why are forks, spoons, and butter knives silver?
Why are forks, spoons, and butter knives silver?..why can’t they become a different color like blue, black, brown, orange….why silver?
Silver is the colour of the metal that is used: silver, or stainless steel most of all. They are usually this colour because the other colours are more expensive to use and some of them are toxic and cutlery is used so much that it is very possible that the colour will wear off and then they would be ugly and no one wants ugly cutlery. the handles can be made of other materials but they often fall apart after several years because of regular use.
A friend of mine has a gold set of cutlery and a brass set of cutlery. Kinda gaudy but effective in impressing his minions. But someone may want to steal the gold!
