Large Knife

What Is A Good Way To Cut Spaghetti Squash? Our large kitchen knife “just doesn’t cut it”!!?
As you probably know, spaghetti squash has a very hard skin that is difficult to cut. I am convinced that my wife or me are going to lose a finger or two, over time, to the process. What other methods are available other than cutting with a large kitchen knife? It almost seems that something similar to a small saw would be helpful. We generally cut the squash across the “equator”, and then bake the halves. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
I’m convinced that every home cook eventually hits a point when they have to suck it up and go get a very good knife. And it’s usually squash that brings them to this realization. It happened to me 25 years ago, and banana squash was the culprit.
Go to Macy’s and get a Henckels chef’s knife and sharpening steel. Trust me, you won’t have to worry about losing a finger anymore.
