Lift Off

How do I get off of a lift easier on a snowboard?
I just started snowboarding and I caught on fairly fast but the only thing I struggle with and this may sound stupid is getting off the lift. I always slip on the ice and fall on top of the poor people sitting next to me and its so embarrassing lol any tips that would help me get off the lifts? Any help would be appreciated.
Well, I’m not sure how you ride the lift or try to get off, but I’ll explain briefly what I do.
When you get to the bottom of the hill, you unstrap your back foot so you can push youself around without having to unstrap both feet so you don’t have two feet to strap back in and you don’t have to carry your board around. You just give a few pushes at a time then slide along between pushing by putting your unstrapped foot on your stomp (if you have one) between your two bindings. Usually you have stopped very close to a lift and are just going straight onto the lift again.
So, then you ride up with one foot still unstrapped. I rest the unstrapped end of my board ontop of my unstrapped boot because I think letting it dangle free is less comfortable. Becareful to hold the board very still if you do this, otherwise the edge will saw through your laces!
When you get to the top of the lift and prepare to unload, twist in the seat to get as “sideways” as you can–like your riding stance, and pull your board up and move your unstrapped foot back onto your stomp between the bindings like you do when you coast on the ground after pushing, then just stand up and ride down the lift exit.
Riding with an unstrapped foot between the bindings can be more difficult if you don’t have a stomp, because your foot can slip off easily. So, you need a good stomp that will keep your foot from slipping across the board and you should be able to master riding like this easily.
Or, I guess some people may set their foot back into the binding without strapping it in. It would provide good grip and give you back your normal, strapped-in riding stance.
