Lighter Knife
in a knife fight what is better a big knife or a little knife?
which one has the advantage by big knife I mean the bowie or the kukri knifes a little I mean the ka bar or the sog tech bowie. I heard people saying that the big knives are to slow and heavy and are pretty much overkill and the little ones are faster lighter and skilled user would be much more effective with a little knife. I also heard a few other people saying the exact opposite.
Big knives are not great in a fight for a few reasons. I would choose a smaller knife and heres why, A big knife has visual impact and will create more fear, so its a great flash weapon. It is very hard to conceal a bigger knife though, and it is also more likely to be knocked out of your hand. A small knife is far easier to keep cupped in your hand until you have to use it. Also, if you are slick, no one will know you have it in your hand. I like a nice sharp 2 inch skinner blade. You can cup the handle and use your index finger to hide the blade. A few well placed pokes and slashes will make him wonder where the knife ever was. Plus you can ditch a small knife easier. I am a law abiding guy, but if I have to defend myself with a knife, I am not going to hang out and wait to be questioned if I dont have to, and sometimes its just you and them, and they will tell a BS story and get you arrested. Another thing to consider, is if you do get caught up in some web of lies, it is far more easier to explain why you had a small knife, than a huge bowie.
