How can I find the proper alloy of lock wire used on a 1928 Curtis Hawk…?
I am helping restore a 1928 Curtis Hawk, and need to find out what the heck they used for lock wire in that period? The wire I cut off certainly was not stainless or copper, or copper nickel. It was soft like copper but appeared almost like a galvanized material of some sort…
It could have been tinned copper. I would go with copper though, unless it is a safety item, then, SS.
