Why does the US Army wear their ACUs in office environments and during leave as if they were service uniforms?
I know the Marines and Navy do not wear their utilities or BDUs outside a tactical situation and they have service uniforms which they wear for office and liberty. I would expect it be the same for the Army but I’ve never seen a Soldier wear the service shirt in an office place.
Sailors in my unit wear BDUs on drill weekends, even though we are not in the field, because it is the uniform that we wear during annual training. The SeaBee unit does the same.
However, we are not allowed to wear our BDUs in public, only to and from the reserve center.
