Are grey, blue and light green eyes common in the Mediterranean area?
Are dark eyes mostly predominant in countries like south France, Italy, southern France, Spain, maybe even Portugal…
Dark eyes are more common but light eyes are not rare at all and are also rather common. The Mediterranean region is a mixed bag, it’s been subjecto to multiple invasions and migrations over millenia. In my experience, the southern French and Italians (north and south) have the most light-eyed people for Southern Europe, followed closely by Spaniards and Greeks. The Portuguese are on average the most dark-haired/dark-eyed population in Europe, but even there you can still find lighter features.
For example, I think I came across a statistic that stated that Italians are about 35% light-eyed on average, with some regional variation.
