Buying New in Box Macbook Pro on Craigslist?
I’m wondering what the world thinks about something like this. Buying a NIB Macbook Pro on Craigslist here in Vegas.
The guy has the brand new Model. 2010 Core i5 15″ Macbook, 2.53 Ghz, 500GB HD. Intel Graphics & the Nvidia GT330. He said it is completely brand new, and still in the box.. Got it as a gift is what he said. it’s an older guy also.
Since it’s New in Box. I can open it, and be the one to Register it. So I should get the full Apple Warranty right?
well he said it was a gift, and that the box has never been opened. I’m going to meet him tonight.
I’ll ask for a receipt. If he doesn’t have one cuz it was a gift, can I still register it. If no one else has? He said he’s had it 9 days
IF it truly was a gift
IF it has never been registered
IF the gentleman provides you with a bill of sale WITH the serial number on it
… then yes, you would have the full warranty…. in as much as what is LEFT on the warranty from the date of purchase. The date you got it from this guy is not the date of purchase. The date it left the Apple Store is the date it was purchased. Might not seem all that important when considering a 1 year warranty, but you only get 90 days free phone support.
