The Architectural Highlights of Your Trip to Spain

Like other countries worldwide, the changes in Spain’s architectural trends say a lot about what took place to them through the centuries. Spain is one of those countries that sincerely put much store in shielding their cultural legacy through preserving architectural structures. Spain is a country where architects are efficient in doing just that; you’ll find that in Spain, history counts very much, and historical buildings are well taken care of.

Naturally, one has to be suitably prepared before attempting to go on a vacation outside of their country; there are many things that could go right, and more things that could go wrong. You could be looking at maps, booking rental cars and hotels, and planning your routes; on the other hand, don’t forget the essentials of such a trip because your convenience and safety should come first. To be able to effortlessly enlist the help of locals in finding your way around, it’s good to have a few sentences or even phrases in Spanish accessible; luckily doing that is easy these days through sites like Rocket Spanish where you can learn not just to read Spanish words but also how to properly pronounce them. Rocket Spanish or Bust is a Computer Assisted Language Learning that can help you speak Spanish fluently.

You’ll be amazed that there are still a lot of prehistoric structures that are preserved in Spain, particularly in regions like the Balearic Islands and Avila. The total number of amazing architectural structures to visit won’t be adequate to fit into a one or two-week schedule. This only goes to show the ritualistic nature of people even during the Bronze Age, because there is a need to value the dead; as time goes by, the architectural trend in burial grounds will change together with the variations in Spain’s cultural climate.

Roman influences can also be seen through the predominantly Roman-looking buildings with attributes domed columns and details. The most common and iconic of which is the Aqueduct of Segovia which is still existing and relatively well-preserved so far. There were also changes in the kinds of structures being erected during those times; more religious structures were made, and this was the start of the construction of various affluent churches in Spain.

After the rise of Romanesque architecture, Spain’s architectural trend transitioned to a more Gothic style, like the style used in building the Cathedral of Avila. The Cathedral of Avila is an example of this alteration to a more Gothic influence in architecture; it still has some hints of Romanesque influences but the French and German influences are more apparent. The Cathedral of Avila is considered as the original gothic church ever to be erected in Spain.

Many other interesting buildings have been constructed since then, and all of them have their own stories. It’s inspiring how Spain has preserved much of its heritage through the preservation and protection of historic architectures.
