Lock feature on Blackberry Pearl for Verizon?

If I had one pet peeve about phones, its butt dialing. I have the LG Dare and it is a major problem for me. I was looking at a Blackberry Pearl and wanted to know how secure the keypad lock is on it? If someone could give me a step-by-step that would be great. thanks!

I have the blackberry pearl and lock it many times each day. When you first get the phone, to lock it you hold down the star key. But you can change the functions of some of the keys and I changed one of the side buttons to lock so that it is faster. It’s never come unlocked for me, you have to hit star, dial in a fast sequence to unlock it. I’ve had it for 1.5 years.
