Pocket Worn
Will my suit pocket sag and ruin the look of my suit if i rip the stitches out and open it?
The pocket I’m thinking of opening is the top one (for wearing a pocket square etc.) not either of the bottom ones (I’m pretty sure they’re fake on my suit anyway). I’ve heard that opening the pockets can cause them to sag and look bad, but I’m not sure if that is only for the bottom ones.
The stitches on all the pockets are meant to be opened when the suit is sold. (As I understand it, they don’t want people messing with the pockets pre-sale. Go figure.)
I’ve never heard anything about opening the pockets causing them to sag, and I know a thing or two about suits. If you’re at all worried about damaging the suit, you could take it to a tailor or any dry cleaners that does alterations–they would do it for a nominal fee.
