Is it against the law to keep your hands in your pocket while talking to the police?
Actually it can be. Most every state has laws about putting someone else in fear of their safety. If the police are talking to you and ask you to remove your hands from your pocket and you refuse, then they have probable cause to believe that you are hiding a weapon. Terry vs. Ohio (Supreme Court case) gives them the right to stop and frisk you for weapons. That includes you removing your hands from your pockets.
