Quaker Boy

My quaker parrot laid egg but there no boy quaker parrot ?
Explaination ?
Hens of any kind do not need a male bird to lay eggs. Most of the eggs you buy at the grocery come from hens who have never seen a rooster. It only means the egg is not fertile and no embryo will form in it. However, your bird does not realize that and to her, it is her egg to sit on and tend for as long as she wants. Let her do that. There is no harm at all. In fact, it can be more harmful if you take it away before she abandons it. She is using a lot of calcium to form that egg shell and any more than she may lay. So make sure she has plenty of calcium in her diet. Keep her supplied with a cuttle bone as well. Removing the egg or eggs to soon will only inspire her to lay more to replace them, leading to further calcium depletion. If her egg shells get soft, that causes egg binding and that is almost always fatal. Just give her a shallow bowl, lined with white paper towels to keep her egg safe and undamaged until she gives up on it.
