info about rainbow leek blades?
Ok i make alot of my own blades i know how to blacken sharpen curve them but there is one thing i dont understand how they do rainbow leeks. how to get the rainbow design. I have read so far about titanium dioxide and once it mixes with oxygen in the medal it becomes titanium oxide. correct? if so how do i make it i cant find a video about it so its either so easy to do it that there no need for one or its not been done before? can anyone help me?
You’re right. Information is hard to come by. I searched and looked again. I know the results are beautiful. I’ve seen them and other small objects made the same way.
Here are some suggestions for experimentation. Try making a thick paste of titanium dioxide in a few drops of water. Brush it on to the iron or steel. Allow the paste to dry in place so the titanium dioxide coats the blade blank. Heat the potential blade to encourage the reaction to happen. Try heating for different times. Perhaps even to the melting point.
Cautions. DON’T breath the dust. Wear a dust mask. It does cause lung damage.
It was announced recently it may cause cancer. Its been used in food for many years so it can’t be too bad that way.
