Rider Bark

Cruiser for a large novice.?
I am looking at getting a motorcycle down here in AZ. First off I am 6’4″ and about 300#’s. I do NOT want a crotch rocket, but would prefer a cruiser. Now to me, as a novice, all I know I want is a Harley. That may change. I was looking at the soft tails. “Night Train” and “Cross Bones”.
Now I am looking for experienced riders to point me in the correct direction, who know I may be barking up the wrong tree. The only problem I see is that I swear on road trips I see one Harley on the side of the road every 50-60 miles. I would prefer to NO have to re-tune it every 50-60 miles or constantly working on it.
I will be using it for about 50% of my commute and road trips. I really want to do some of the rides locally and nationally. I see about 20 min. of the freeway each day, but then again rush hour traffic is slow and sucks. lol
So whats the suggestions?
The quality of modern Harleys, 20 years old or newer, is excellent. Most break-downs on them occur because people don’t give them what little maintenance they need (such as never changing the oil and filter, or running with dirt packed in the air filter) or ill planned, ill fitting custom components. Leaving them sit so long that the battery goes dead and the fuel gets sour is also a major cause of problems.
Get a Harley if you want one. The problems mentioned above apply to all bikes. Just remember that if you buy a used bike, some of these problems may already exist.
