Safety Lock

What is the best child safety gun lock on the market today?
I’m thinking of getting a shotgun for home protection — but I CANNOT risk the little ones firing if in the unusual/rare circumstance they actually even got a hold of it.
The best child safety gun lock is education. Teach them to respect guns, don’t hide them away and make them taboo, show them how they work and how to handle them when they ask, and you shouldn’t have any problems. Both of my sons have known how a revolver operates by the time they were 2, and they both know they can see any gun they want, any time, all they have to do is ask. They basically have no interest in my guns unless we are going shooting. The only thing I ever worry about is that their friends might try to talk them into getting into them, but I don’t leave ammo lying around, they are rarely home alone and never home alone with friends over, and I don’t think they would be talked into it anyway, they have both seen me kill deer, and my oldest has killed a few animals himself, so I trust that they have a healthy respect for guns.
