Which one of these knives would you (or not) recommend?
Cold Steel Recon Scout (7 1/2″ carbon steel), Trail Master (9 1/2″ carbon steel), or San Mai Recon Scout (7 1/2″ San Mai III steel)?
if you can afford the san mai recon scout, it’d be your best choice. i have the carbon v trail master, and i love it. the recon scout’s just a slightly smaller version. try to get the older ones, last year’s models or earlier. they recently changed steels and the quality has suffered.
the san mai has the benefit of carbon steel for the edge, and the rust resistance of stainless for the sides. laminated steels are more expensive, though.
