A Simples Life From Meerkat Mansion, Comparing Meerkats
Originally designed as a sales aid for a British insurance company the ‘Meerkat’ series of adverts turned into much more than just an advertisement. The videos became one of the best known and most loved series ever aired on British television. These videos are extremely funny.
Our hero is Alexsandr who is a Russian Aristokat and billionaire who acts out his ancestors adventures starting in the 18th century. Commuting between homes in Russia and London many times a year allowed Alexsandr, our main Meerkat character, the time to design the now famous Mir(kat) Space Station. He also enjoys finding out more about his family history. It has been suggested that he may use his research to power a world smash hit film. Toward this possible end, it comes as no surprise that he should complete a series of entertaining short films for us to enjoy.
The most important films, of those produced so far, are ‘The Orlov Family Trilogy’.
‘The Journey of Courageousness’
‘The Journey of Courageousness’ starts the trilogy, showing Alexsandr’s ancestors escaping their home in Africa because of the ‘Great Grub Famine’. Their exit from Africa is by boat and there are many dangers to face. Their sea journey was hazardous and very long, though there was not much relief when, at the end of their journey, they discovered that they had landed in Russia!
‘The Journey of Fearlessness’
The second part of the trilogy is ‘The Journey of Fearlessness’ that covers Great Grand-daddy’s Vitali’s struggles and ultimate battle with the evil Mongoose armyand its leader, ‘Mongis Khan’. The battle was long and hard but eventually won, even though Vitali was thought to be badly injured. Vitali’s injury proved not to be serious, merely a ‘fur wound’. After leaving the Ural mountains, where the battle was fought, they make their way to Moscow and their new home.
‘The Streets of Ambitiousness’
This disturbing tale covers Alexsandr’s Daddy, Anton, and the pain of trying to get his new business ‘comparethemeerkat.cart’ off the ground on the mean Moscow streets. It wasn’t easy for Anton in the early days, there were even times when things were so hard that he had to start comparing Muskrats to earn a little extra. Unhappy times indeed..
It’s clear, as shown in Alex’s video history, that his family worked hard over the generations to give Alexsandr the best possible start. Daddy Anton was eventually successful with his .cart business and made enough money to open his new venture ‘comparethemeerkat.shop’. By continuing the hard work of his father, Alexsandr found to his surprise that by the mid 1970′s he was a billionairekat.
Alexsandr’s latest venture was announced in October 2010, the release of his new autobiography, ‘A Simples Life: The Life and Times of Alexsandr Orlov’. This book was released to great acclaim and is sure to top the best sellers list in a very short time. It is fully expected that because of the huge public interest, Alex’s book will be nominated for ‘The Booker-Kat Prize’ and possibly for ‘The Nobel-Kat Prize for Literature’.
