I found a shark tooth…?

I would like to identify what kind of shark it’s from.
It is about the size of a penny and it is dark gray/black. It has serrated edges and a root. I found it on the beach in South Carolina. Does anyone know what kind of shark it might be from?

I have found many of these on beaches in SC. Since it’s dark gray/black, it’s a fossil. Actual non fossilized shark’s teeth are white…

If it’s sort of triangular in shape, it may be from a small megladon, but there are other types of fossiled sharks teeth found in that area.
