Problems With Underarm Sweat
Are sweaty underarms causing trouble for you? Changing shirts or underwear many times during the day is commonly done by those who have sweaty underarms; indeed, they are always greatly embarrassed by having visible rings beneath the armpits. This poses a problem for individuals in social situations, and moreover, it can be quite expensive as well, as you have to constantly launder your clothes or even change them, if the fabric rots when they are not washed promptly. There is not really an easy cure for this situation, mainly because people respond differently to available treatments, and a few don’t respond at all. There are times when a simple deodorant is all that is needed: all you have to do is to try several brands to see which works best.
Symptomatic Of Another Disorder – The exact reason for hyperhidrosis is often unknown. It is not usually associated with any particular disease or disorder, as otherwise perfectly healthy individuals may suffer from sweaty armpits. Emotion can be a major role. We experience sweaty palms and underarms in extremely stressful situations, and at other times, when the weather factors affect us. In most cases however, emotion or the climate have little effect on when those afflicted with underarm sweating will experience the problem.
It may seem hopeless, but doing nothing and just trying to live with the problem is actually the worst thing to do about it. Granted, there are a few for which no approach to treating the problem will seem to work, but most respond positively to one treatment or another. A program of treatment is often an incremental approach, trying first one thing, and then going on to stronger medications and possibly surgery.
Over The Counter Products – For mild problems, the right deodorant can actually do the job: it can resolve the problem or at least make it tolerable. These are the over the counter products, and there are a number of home remedies too. It remains to be the case that what works for one individual may not work for another, as attested to by different individuals. There is no mythical silver bullet to instantly solve all problems.
Aluminum Chloride – The next thing to a silver bullet may be aluminum chloride or aluminum chloride hexahydrate. As a chemical compound, it helps reduce the sweating by blocking the sweat glands, at least to a point where sweating occurs on a more normal level. Aluminum chloride seems to work for a majority of those afflicted, but a significant percentage of those who try it discover that it irritates their skin to the point that the itching can be worse than the sweating.
Zap – Using our incremental approach, the next level will now be more intense: it involves passing electric current through the armpit area. Do not fret, it is neither electrocution nor shock therapy. You may not feel it at all and if you do, the current is quite minimal and not painful. This procedure, iontophoresis, is a highly effective procedure, yet the thing is, it has to be repeated periodically. It is certainly worth looking into. It is not harmful nor has it any major side effects.
Botox Injections – Botulinum toxin, or botox, may also be one way of treatment. Botox can be very effective but can have some undesirable side effects. Botox injections have been approved by the FDA for use in treating sweaty underarms, but not for sweaty palms or soles. Extra caution is warranted in order to make sure that the proper dosage is given.
Those with sweaty underarms indeed go through a hard trial. As such, one should do all that is possible to cure sweaty underarms.
