Most sophisticated color for trim & pre stained shingle to get with a swiss chalet looking house?
I am about to have shingle siding put on my swiss chalet A-frame style home in Nor. Cal. and would like to ask what people think is the most sophisticated color for the pre-stained shingles and what color you would recommend for the trim? Do the shingles look lighter or darker after you put them up? After looking at a sample of one, I am having a hard time trying to figure out what it would look like over the entire house. Thanks very much! CP
Swiss chalets are usually, traditionally, done with dark wood trim and white walls. However, your roof is most of your walls in an A-frame. I’d go with a medium to dark rich warm brown for the shingles, not a grey-toned one, and for the trim you could be traditional with white or cream, or go crazy with a bright or deep colour which I always think looks good on an A-frame. If you’re out in the woods, try to stay sort of natural with the trim colour, something that goes with trees and wood. Dark blue, deep green.
