Mastering The Art Of Throwing A Budget Chic Get-together For Your Friends
You’d be amazed how easy it is to be the hostess or the host and also keep costs down. You just need to know the following strategies that will help turn a little money into a great get-together:
Tip #1: Make your own party decorations
There are many party decorations that can be created at home with just free images or free printable scrapbook paper that are available on the Web. The clip art can be printed, cut out and used in strategic locations, including being sprinkled in flower arrangements or used on menu cards. And you can use the scrapbook papers as the structure of menu cards, place cards or napkin holders. They can also be used to make origami party favors. This can be especially effective if you can find clip art that matches the scrapbook papers. If you’re so inclined, glitter glue will make them look sparkly and more professional.
Tip #2: Serve foods that don’t cost a lot but have a big impact
When planning your party, look for easy appetizer recipes that don’t cost a lot to make and also provide that “wow” factor. A good example is a low-cost spinach dip in a hollowed-out purple cabbage bowl, or bacon-wrapped pineapple that has been baked in the oven coated with a sauce made of mayonnaise, brown sugar and pre-made chili sauce before baking.
Tip #3: Provide background music
Music is soothing and is a terrific party mood-setter. CDs will work, of course, but if you have live music, you’ll create an occasion your guests will never forget. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to spend a lot to have live music. If you don’t have friends or family members willing to work for free, inquire at a local university’s music department. There may be student musicians who will work for free or just a small fee.
Tip 4: Don’t pay for the invitations
There are plenty of birthday party invitations that can be downloaded from the Internet. All you have to do is find the message, size and look you prefer, paste it into a Word document or some other type of word processor and run it through your printer. If you choose the artwork well, the end results should exceed your expectations.
There are probably other ways you can think of to keep your budget under control. Just remember to keep your guests’ ultimate experience in the forefront of your mind and don’t let saving money make the party seem cheap. If you always think classy, your guests won’t know the event was atually a bargain. And before you know it, you’ll be famous for your great parties!
