If an airplane is flying over the united states with a strong “tailwind” pushing it forward…….?
If an airplane is flying over the united states with a strong “tailwind” pushing it forward, on which side of the plane are you more likely to see bad weather off in the distance: the left hand side of the plane or the right hand side of the plane?
You can see bad weather in all sides. To your right, you will more likely see strong convective weather with possible huge towering tropical thunderstorms, areas with high heat and with an extremely high index, and a distant tropical cyclones. To your left, you are more likely to see large areas of rain, snow, icy conditions and dense fog, areas of standing water that will flood homes and businesses for days. And to the front and back, you are more likely to see strong squall line strorms with possible bow echoes and local flash flooding, severe tornadic thunderstorms with large hail, and other rapidly changing and extreme weather conditions usually found associated with a strong upper jet stream that is pushing your airplane forward. I guess the answer will depend on what you define as “bad weather” in the distance.
