In 1962, the franchise was shifted to the San Francisco area and as a result, was renamed the San Francisco Warriors. The team continued to play well and in 1971, the name was changed to the Golden State Warriors. To date, the Warriors remain the only team that does not specify the team state or city in the name.
With the settling of the new name, came a rise in the demand of Golden State Warriors tickets. This was mainly due to the drafting of a number of new and talented players- basketball fans and observers predicted big wins, if the team could find a common vibe and make it work on the courts. This however proved to be more difficult than it seemed.
Sparring Warriors
By the mid nineties, most of the fans had bought Golden State Warriors tickets, in order to see its three superstars in action- Nelson, Webber and Sprewell. What should have worked magic on the team soon backfired as in-fighting among these three eventually led to all three of them leaving the team. The Warriors suddenly found themselves on loose ground and it seemed like the team was coming apart at the seams.

While this was definitely an improvement, all of these players were stars in the making and the team as a whole was very young. When it came to battling with more experienced and elite teams in the NBA, the Warriors just could not deliver. By 2004, the team was in trouble yet again, but this time, a shuffling of players and personnel was initiated. This is why the team bounced back with a bang in 2006, becoming strong contenders in 2007. The Warriors even made playoff history in 2007, when they had their first playoff win in 16 years. Today, the Warriors are a little more experienced and are ready to take things way past the playoffs.
